Ten individuals sentenced of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
