On Monday, the tribunal heard phone records and information obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and continues to be open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? Then what? Is that not significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was told that through emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with the police force who gathered the evidence, advised the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will continue and I will prove my claim."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship online with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the months leading up to the appearance to that location, that area, in December 2024.

The court learned communications between the two accused, in last November, planning attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We have to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their home, Mrs Spragg transmitted a text which stated: "We are sat near the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark resembling private investigators. I had hoped to accomplish this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The trial continues.
