Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
